April 7 March – Reflection

The Reality I was unsure if people care enough to make an effort. I planned to join the April 7 March to Save South Africa from the Cape Town Town Hall to Parliament the next day. Arriving in town we could see things were different. We walked past the Market in St Georges mall and saw almost no one there.  As we carried on walking towards the Grand Parade we heard first the motorbikes, then the people. Even though it was not yet noon, the crowd that had gathered was substantial, a lot more than the legal limit of 8,000. I looked up the street and then realized that the crowd was very large, my insecurity that no one cared enough to make an effort seemed like a joke. After some politically charged messages we started a slow march towards Parliament via Buitenkant. It was a slow march with some politically charged chanting – but was peaceful. When we got close to parliament as we could I realized there were a lot of people there.  Pers...

Zejdlik original

This beer was given to me as a gift. I wish all gifts were this great.  The Czech pilsners are special. Rather than being light and cidery they have depth and body.  This one is really enjoyable. It has an almost sparkly deep body and a strong hops after taste. Pity I only could have the one.  aroma: 8 - caramelized brien sugar.  Flavour: 9 - barley and basmati rice After taste: 8 - hops Modishness: 9 - I had drunk most of it before finishing this post.  Would buy again if I could: 8 total: 42 Yum

MFM: 3 cheese gnocchi with mushrooms

Another MFM recipe, this one is really awesome, it serves 4 at a push, but you may need to increase doses or add a salad, since there are never left overs. Ingredients 2 cups gnocchi (can use spinach, we use potatoe) 1 onion finely chopped 2 cloves garlic (may need an extra one depending on cheese) At least 2 soft cheeses (about a cup fill), like goats, mascarpone, or smooth cottage cheese can also use ricottoa One hard cheese (about 2 tablepoons grated / sliced fine) that has a bit Parmesan or Grana Padano or something like that. No stringy cheese. Protabello mushrooms 2 teaspoons of thyme / parley (best case fresh, but can use dried) optional black pepper for when you serve 2 table spoons dry white wine (optional, but use if not using black pepper), can use a teaspoon of white vinegar instead, this cuts through the cheese 1 teaspoon olive oil Utensils 30cm frying pan Large pot for doing the gnocchi Knife and chipping board Instructions add oil to pan chop on...

We have been doing Meat Free Mondays (and some other days too, but Mondays is a no neg), and there are a number of recipes that I loved so I think committing them to the electronic cloud may help us remember them, and perhaps someone else. HP 6555b Error on start up unable to start bluetooth stack - fixed

I kept on getting this error and after doing a few searches downloaded and paid for DriverFind, what a waste of money. Eventually this is how I fixed it. I went to Device Manager: Right click computer computer -> Manager Went to Device Mananger, then  removed all Bluetooth drivers under other removed Bluetooth items under network then I downloaded sp56715 from the HP site which I found under another  machines options since the 6555b does not seem to have the bluetooth drivers. While this installed the bluetooth devices reinstalled and then a reboot was required.

Upgrading your hard drive – without a reinstall?

Recently I ran out of space on my hard drive on my lap top. Knowing that normally this is quite a hassle to upgrade I delayed it as long as possible, deleting old movies and some music bought me some time, but I knew I would have to go through the hassle. By hassle I meant this: Use Windows tool to copy settings and data to a new temporary storage; Remove old hard drive Install new hard drive Reinstall windows. Reinstall all applications. Use windows tool to restore settings and data to new drive Spend days downloading all the updates and patches that where on the old machine This time while looking for the new drive I stumbled upon this thing by Seagate called DiscWizard. It claimed that it would allow you to clone the drive and then you can just replace the old with new boot an all is good. After a little research I decide why not give a go. So I ordered my Seagate drive (It must be a Seagate, Samsung and Maxtor drive, otherwise the software will not run). I also orde...
